Setting up a fair, transparent cricket player auction requires a clear rulebook. Without formal auction rules, team owners will argue over purse limits, bid increments, and tie-breakers.
Below is the official Bidoo Cricket Auction Rulebook Template used by hundreds of corporate leagues, housing societies, and district tournaments across India.
1. Purse & Budget Rules
- Total Team Purse: Each team is allotted an identical budget of ₹1,00,00,000 (1 Crore virtual points).
- Minimum Purse Utilization: Teams must spend at least 75% of their total purse by the end of the auction.
- Squad Size Constraints:
- Minimum Squad Size: 11 Players
- Maximum Squad Size: 15 Players
- Purse Safety Floor: A team cannot place a bid if their remaining purse would drop below
(Minimum Squad Needed - Current Players) × Minimum Base Price.
2. Player Categories & Base Prices
Divide your player pool into 4 categories before bidding starts:

3. Mandatory Bid-Step Increments
To prevent fractional bidding (e.g., bidding ₹1 extra), enforce strict bid-step ladders:
- From ₹1 Lakh to ₹10 Lakhs: Bid step of ₹50,000
- From ₹10 Lakhs to ₹50 Lakhs: Bid step of ₹2,00,000
- From ₹50 Lakhs to ₹1 Crore: Bid step of ₹5,00,000
4. Special Bidding Mechanics
A. Right to Match (RTM) Cards
Allow team owners from the previous season to retain 1 key player by matching the highest bid placed by rival teams during the live auction.
B. Accelerated / Re-Auction Phase
Any player who goes UNSOLD during the initial round enters the Accelerated Round. During this phase:
- Base prices are cut by 50%.
- Team owners submit a shortlist of 5 unsold players they want brought back to the gavel.
